Government-run radio station launched in Somalia

The Somali Transitional Federal Government recently launched a radio station with broadcasts that reach the capital city Mogadishu and its outskirts. Called Radio Mogadishu, the FM radio station aims to provide balanced news of the government and Somali people.

Radio Mogadishu will have to compete with 12 independent radio stations used to broadcast Islamist militant propaganda. As Mareeg online reports, Radio Mogadishu began in a bold way: with coverage of militant abuses.
