Argentine, Paraguayan, Uruguayan, and Brazilian journalists who cover themes related to sexual violence against children and adolescents can compete in the Tim Lopes investigative journalism contest. Deadline: January 29, 2010.
The competition will recognize print, radio, TV, Web, and community and alternative media works. Projects must include a proposal, a production plan, information sources that will be consulted, and a budget.
Selected participants will receive funds to produce an investigative report according to the type of medium they work, as well as the support of experts on sexual violence.
The contest is named after Brazilian journalist Tim Lopes, who was murdered while he investigated the sexual exploitation of teenagers in the slums of Rio de Janeiro.
