Workshop aims to bridge gap between journalists, astronomers

Members of South African community media and astronomers can attend the "Stargazers & Scribblers Astronomy and Journalism Workshop," in Cape Town from July 13 to 14 and in Gauteng on July 16.

At the event, journalists will receive up-to-date developments in astronomy, while scientists will learn how to promote their message without compromising science.

Facilitators at the workshop, which is sponsored by frayintermedia and the South African Agency for Science & Technology Advancement (SAASTA), include some of the country's leading stargazers and scribes on the subject such as Elsabe Brits, specialist journalist for Science at Die Burger, and Dr. Adrian Tiplady of the South African Square Kilometre Array Project.

Registration is now open. Travel and accommodations will be provided for community journalists.
